Level 1 Office Visit (99211)
This is the lowest level of care for established patients in the office. Internists used this code for only 5.2% of these encounters in 2003. Usually the presenting problems are minimal. This E/M code is unique in that it is the only one which does NOT REQUIRE THE PRESENCE OF THE PHYSICIAN. There are no specific documentation requirements, but the purpose of the visit should be recorded. The reimbursement for this level of care is approximately $21.00.
