What do the "E" and "M" in E/M coding stand for?

Answer: E/M stands for evaluation and managment. E/M coding determines how patient encounters are translated into five digit numbers (called E/M codes) to facilitate billing. There are specific documentation requirements for each E/M code depending upon the type of encounter and the level of care billed. E/M University was founded to help providers get the documentation right the first time.
